Haryana logs record paddy arrival

Chandigarh, Dec 1 () Haryana has registered its all- time high paddy arrival of 70.24 lakh tonnes up to November 30 in the current season.

Paddy procurement season, which began last month, ends on December 15, an official release said here today.

Over 70.24 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy arrived in the mandis of the state till yesterday as against 69.56 lakh MT during the entire season last year, which was the previous record high.

Out of total arrivals, the state procurement agencies procured more than 58.96 lakh MT of paddy up to November 30, against 53.47 lakh MT mopped up during the entire paddy season last year, which was also an all-time high, the release said.

Out of the total arrival, over 11.27 lakh MT of paddy was procured by millers this year. State procurement agencies have also set a record by delivering more than 6.7 lakh MT of rice to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) against 4.5 lakh MT last season.

More than 27.36 lakh MT of paddy has been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, over 19.22 lakh MT by Hafed, over 6.49 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation, 5.68 lakh MT by the Haryana Agro- Industries Corporation and 19,667 MT by the FCI.

Giving details of the arrival of paddy in the mandis of the state, the release said maximum quantity arrived in Karnal (14.47 lakh MT) followed by Kurukshetra (12.12 lakh MT). SUN ABM
